Connecting Claude to Metric Insights MCP Server
If your organization uses Claude for regular interactions, you can connect it to the Metric Insights MCP server to receive answers from Concierge service. Team members won't have to open Metric Insights to receive answers that come from the organization's data. Because those answers come from your organization's governed definitions, the numbers match what the reports already show.
Please follow this step-by-step guide to configure your Claude account and connect it to the MI MCP server.
PREREQUISITES:
- Concierge MCP server configured.
- If you're on a Team or Primary Claude plan, you'll need Owner or Primary Owner access rights.
1. Create Custom Connector
Before any team member can access MI through their Claude account, an Owner or Primary Owner must set up the connector. Team members will be able to use the connector created by the Owner.
If you're not the Owner user, proceed to Step 2.
Please refer to the Claude documentation to create a custom connector.
- Give the connector a descriptive name.
- Insert the OAuth endpoint address in the form
https://<mi-host>/mcp, replacing<mi-host>with your MI instance name. - [Continue]
NOTE: Make sure the Concierge External Application has "OAuth" selected as its Auth Type and has a Redirect URI set.
- Authentication: Select the "Always required" option.
- OAuth client: Select the "Use your own OAuth client" option and insert the Application ID and Application Key copied from the External Application Editor page as the Client ID and Client Secret.
- [Add]
The new connector will be added to the list.
2. Connect Connector to Claude
In your Claude account, go to Customize menu option and select the Connectors tab
Click [Connect to Claude] in the Concierge custom connector box. You'll be asked to log into your MI instance account, and once you've done that, it'll be connected to Claude.
3. Check Connection
We recommend asking Claude a few Metric Insights-related questions, such as "Show me all domains from Concierge" to check if the arrangement works correctly.
